The Marathon of Sand usually takes place at the end of March and continues to the beginning of April every year in the surrounding desert of Ouarzazate and Zagora. This Sahara marathon takes enthusiastic sportsmen and sportswomen through 151 miles (243km) of desert. The course divided among the 8 days of the race. Approximately 650 competitors from 35 countries take part every year. After a day's running, the competitors rest and dine in camps to be ready for the next day. The Marathon of sands is indisputably one of the most satisfying and toughest races in the world.
