Ouarzazate is a quiet beautiful town. The name comes from the Berber language which means "no troubles" or "without noise". Many popular movies were shot in Ouarzazate region_ one of reasons it is called "the Hollywood of Africa". Approximately 4 km from city centre, statues of Pharohs stand in the "Atlas Studios" where the great films "Kingdom of Heaven’’ and the “Babel” were filmed.
The region of Ouarzazat encompasses extraordinary historical monuments ; remarkably enticing is the "Kasbah of Taourirt"," Kasbah of Tifoultoute ", "the Museum of Arts and Crafts", and the outstanding traditional "Kasr/Kasbah Aït-Ben-Haddo" which is, indeed, a fantastic earthen buildings surrounded by high walls 30km away from the city center. This kasbah is on the Unesco World Heritage list.
The charming "Dadess Gorge" framed by large ochre-colored-rocks is located nearly 100km to the east of Ouarzazat city. One must experience an unforgettable adventure across "M-hamed Sahara" which has wide and large sand dunes. Erg Chigaga near M'hamid is the highest dune in north Africa and surrounded by blue mountains. You will always find in the surrounding desert of Mhamid, Nomadic tented camps, camel treks available for groups, friends and families.
